Baltimore City
Origin: Baltimore City is a municipality within Baltimore County. It was incorporated into Baltimore County in 1796.
According to Maryland.Gov website, “The City name was derived from the Proprietary’s Irish Barony. As a governmental unit, the City separated from Baltimore County in 1851, and has been considered on a par with county jurisdictions since the adoption of the Maryland Constitution of 1851 . . .”
Boundaries: City’s north, east, & west sides share boundaries with Baltimore County whereas south side by Patapsco River & Anne Arundel County.
